The Goldendoodle's history is rooted in service. While Poodle-Retriever crosses appeared sporadically, the intentional breeding of the "Goldendoodle" began in the late 1960s. Monica Dickens (great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens) is credited with early breedings in the 1960s to create a guide dog for people with allergies.
Goldendoodles are known for being incredibly gentle, patient, and loving, making them amazing with kids, guests, and even other pets. They are friendly like a Golden Retriever and intelligent like a Poodle — which means you get a dog that’s affectionate, social, and easy to train.
Their soft, curly, teddy bear coats make people stop and stare and yes… you’ll get asked “what breed is that?” all the time.

Well-balanced Temperament
Goldendoodles are known for their friendly, affectionate, and well-balanced temperament, combining the warmth of a Golden Retriever with the intelligence of a Poodle. They are naturally social, gentle, and eager to please, making them easy to train and great with families, kids, and other pets.
Highly Trainable
Ranked among the most intelligent hybrids, Goldendoodles are highly intelligent and eager to please, which makes training smoother and more enjoyable. They love learning, playing, and being involved in your daily life.
High Emotional Intelligence
Goldendoodles are renowned for their intuitive nature - often used as therapy dogs because they can "read" their owner's emotions. They are emotionally intelligent, deeply affectionate, and incredibly easy to love. They read your mood, stick by your side, and bring a kind of warm, positive energy into your home that’s hard to explain… but impossible to miss.
Adaptability to Multi-Generational Homes
Goldendoodles have a naturally soft, tolerant temperament. They are playful and energetic with children, while calm and gentle around elderly family members. They instinctively adjust their energy depending on who they’re interacting with. This makes them ideal in homes with different needs and energy levels.
Goldendoodles are also social and inclusive. They are happy bonding with multiple family members so everyone in the home gets to feel connected to the dog.
